Creative Foundation offers art classes for students in Grade 6 and above at Art Muse on Francis Lewis Blvd in Flushing, Queens, serving families from Bayside, Whitestone, and across Queens. Students strengthen drawing and painting skills while developing original ideas and their own artistic voice.
Whether continuing from Junior Art Muse or joining with a new interest in art, students receive guidance tailored to their skills, interests, and goals in a structured, supportive studio environment.

  • Future Prep Candidates: Students who may transition into our High School Prep or College Prep tracks in the future and want to build a solid foundation today.

Program Overview

What Students Learn

  • Diverse Media Mastery: We go beyond the basics, encouraging students to experiment with and master a professional toolkit. Students work across a wide spectrum of media, including:

    • Drawing & Sketching: Graphite, Charcoal, Conte, Ink Pen, and Color Pencils.

    • Painting: Acrylics, Oils, and Watercolor.

    • Color & Texture: Oil Pastels and Pastel techniques.

    • 3D Expression: Clay modeling and sculptural concept building.

  • Technical Foundations: Advanced observational drawing, precise proportion, and complex light-and-form studies.

  • Conceptual Growth: Composition, perspective, and personal creative concept development.

  • Visual Storytelling: Integrating diverse media to develop unique narratives and personal expression.

Individualized Mentorship

Our Creative Foundation classes are limited to 10 students per session, with personalized feedback throughout each 2-hour class. Students build skills and develop their own ideas through focused practice.
In our studio, students pursue individual goals within a shared learning environment. Whether exploring a new medium or preparing for a future portfolio track, each student receives guidance matched to their current skills, interests, and next steps.

Tuition & Schedule

  • All materials are included
    "Unleash your creativity without limits. We provide full access to a premium range of professional-grade art supplies, from fine drawing tools to high-quality paints. Your only job is to bring your imagination—we’ve got the rest covered."

Creative Foundation tuition per 4-week cycle: 1 class weekly, 4 classes, $308; 2 weekly, 8 classes, $560; 3 weekly, 12 classes, $780; unlimited, up to 28 classes, $1,200.
Creative Foundation class schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 3:30–5:30 pm; Tuesday 5:40��–7:40 pm; Saturday 9:30–11:30 am, 11:35 am–1:35 pm, and 1:40–3:40 pm.

Begin with an Artistic Growth Consultation

Every student begins with an individual consultation to ensure they are placed in the right track for their artistic development. During this session, we review the student’s current drawing skills, creative interests, and long-term goals.

Based on this evaluation, we provide:

  • Personalized Learning Path: A roadmap tailored to the student’s current skill level and creative aspirations.

  • Weekly Studio Schedule: A recommended class frequency to help them grow steadily.

  • Future Roadmap: Guidance on how their current progress naturally evolves into portfolio preparation for Art High School or College.
